With its dotted, cup-shaped flowers and low growth, Five Spot makes a delicate yet striking statement. White and purple flowers are useful as cover for sunny or lightly shaded borders and edgings. Lovely beneath trees with open canopies. Mix with other pastel-flowering companions that tolerate partial shade, such as its cousin Baby Blue Eyes (Nemophila menziesii) and Baby Snapdragon (see Toadflax) (Linaria maroccana). Or go bold in the sun with the bright yellows, reds and pinks of Shirley Poppy (Papaver rhoeas) and Indian Blanket (Gaillardia pulchella).
