This plant is an exact replica of the golden California Poppy. Its long stems hold rich red cups that add a low swath of red when naturalized on slopes or hillsides. Useful color along a simulated dry streambed or in a rock garden. It also tolerates some filtered shade, it is a useful plant for under oak trees. You can create a unique woodland garden with other shade-tolerant wildflowers, such as Gold California poppy or California White Poppy (Eschscholzia californica) and California Blue Bells (Phacelia campanularia).
