A tiny giant in the floristry business, Baby's Breath is just as popular and useful in home gardens. Its upright branched habit and abundant, small white flowers lend an airy, lacy effect to beds and borders. Useful for its neutral color and fine-textured contrast for other larger, colorful flowers such as Lance-leaved Coreopsis (Coreopsis lanceolata). Very nice growing beside and around boulders in rock gardens. A must-have in the cutting garden with Cosmos (Cosmos bipinnatus), Clarkia (see Farewell-to-Spring) (Clarkia amoena) and Black Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta).
